HTML5 multimedia development is a fairly comprehensive account of all the main features of the HTML5 specification written in a cookbook, hands on style. Covering the basic changes in html markup this book will show you how to leverage those changes to lay out beautifully semantic html5 web pages which are accessible and cross browser compliant. The second half of this text goes on to more complex subjects such as the canvas element, audio and video in HTML5 and local data storage.

The CSS3 chapter has some useful tricks, building upon the new markup covered in earlier chapters. This chapter walks through a practical example demonstrating transitions, text shadows, rounded corners, box shadows, background images all with a touch of humour that continues throughout the book making it enjoyable to read. Although IE6 is a bit of an easy target.

Chapter 5 addresses changes to form fields in HTML5 and this chapter rounds out the first half of the book, the second half moves on to some of the more interesting changes included in the HTML5 specification such as the canvas element, audio and video and local data storage on the browser.

Overall I think you’ll find this text book to be an enjoyable read, it contains good coverage of the new HTML5 specification.
